AI share of voice

Competitive AI measurement is clearer when presence and recommendation are kept as separate metrics instead of being collapsed into a single score.

A closer look at the measurement.

What is AI share of voice?

AI share of voice commonly compares how much brand presence or mention activity belongs to you versus a competitor set. Definitions vary by tool, so the denominator and exact counting rule should always be visible.

How is Recommendation Share different?

Mentionloom counts an answer only when the brand is shortlisted or explicitly recommended. Lost Recommendation Share captures the opposite competitive moment: a competitor qualifies while your brand is absent or only mentioned.

Which metric should you use?

Use mention-based share of voice for presence. Use Recommendation Share for consideration. Segment both by Discovery, Comparison and Decision questions so one broad number does not hide where buyers are actually choosing between options.

Questions people ask

Is Lost Recommendation Share simply 100% minus Recommendation Share?

No. An answer may recommend nobody, and multiple competitors can qualify in the same answer.

Should Discovery and Decision prompts be blended together?

They can be summarized, but teams should retain separate intent views because the meaning of a recommendation differs across the funnel.
