Generative Engine Optimization

Generative Engine Optimization is most useful when an optimization starts from an observed answer, produces a justified change, and is evaluated against the same questions afterward.

What is GEO?

Generative Engine Optimization is the practice of improving how a brand, product or source is represented and surfaced in generative search and answer experiences. The label is still evolving, so methodology matters more than the acronym.

What should a GEO tool help you do?

Find the questions you lose, inspect which competitors and citations appear, verify whether a real evidence gap exists, prioritize the change, and preserve a before/after measurement with enough context to interpret it.

What should it avoid?

Do not promise that adding a phrase, schema block or citation will force an LLM to rank a page. AI answer systems are variable and opaque. Improve the quality and accessibility of true evidence, then measure the observed result.

Questions people ask

Is GEO the same as SEO?

They overlap, but the observed outcome differs: SEO often measures search rankings and clicks, while GEO/AEO work also examines representation inside generated answers and citations.

Can one content edit prove GEO impact?

No. A before/after difference can be informative, but it does not establish causation by itself.
